NOTE
There are places I recognize without ever having seen them, places in that territory between sleep and waking, where objects signal a presence before it appears, where the body lies still while the mind remains wholly awake. These places exist. I find them again at night, in the city.
BIO
Arold Blanchet is a photographer based in Quebec City. He trained at the Ateliers d'art photographique under Robert Fournier, who studied with Ansel Adams, where he developed the mastery of the Zone System that remains at the foundation of his practice.
His work has been exhibited internationally, notably in Regards: Collectif photographique Québécois (June 2026, curated by Daniel Miller, China), Portals: Windows, Mirrors and Doors (2024, curated by Elizabeth Avedon), and Capturing the Light (2023, curated by Ann Jastrab) at PhotoPlace Gallery, Vermont, USA.
His photographs have been published in Black & White Magazine (issues 161, 165, 173, 176, 179) and appear in the books Voyons voir quand des images s'éveillent (2024, Éditions Cayenne) and Montréal Noir (2003, Les 400 coups). He has been represented by Arcangel Images since 2018.
